Cover Issue 16 THE CITY FLESH

This drowsy light sphere

lifts the arms dangling

through wood planks

I'm close. I know it

in the halted distant train

the door shutting behind

my dying flashlight. This final

hallway pulses in bodily timing

The walls dimple to my touch

and as I carve a dull

year the static crisps and the last

entry vanishes from the diary that guides me.
