  Cover Issue 16 BLEEDING DEADBOLTS

by CHRIS OZOG

You rip misery
from your chest,
in a protest.
your heart ruptures,
then scissors in two.
Rapture is the spider
crawling underneath
your skin,
nipping at your neck.
Parasites slither
internally,
for an eternity,
and you felt
deaths incision,
carving at your valve.
Dismembered
grim limbs,
to serve on
marble platters.
How many
metallic knights
fall beneath the
crescent lights?
If you pry
your eyes open,
the syringe
will cloud
your surgery,
where
sorcery begins.
Just another
broken deadbolt
stabbed into
your brain.
