of starlings

in the oak leaves.

Swirl of black

stars, then

more crows and

sparrows fill

the bushes, turn

trees under

our hair

licorice. More

ebony waves,

a river of

birds, the

blackest, the ones

that shimmer

in films

before death now

in the leaves,

the branches
